shock tale(s)

So my mother's a doctor and she specializes in labour, pregnancy etc (obstetrics). My mother is one of the most religiously "ON" people you will ever meet, even though she doesn't wear a scarf. She is a perfect example of a "modern muslim" and one that I aspire to, very much.

anyway, being in the line of work she's in, she comes across some very weird cases.

Two weeks ago, a Muslim patient came to her. A young, 20ish year old hijabi girl complaining of abdominal pain. She told my mother that she had IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Further investigation and my mother found that not only was this girl PREGNANT, but she was GIVING BIRTH right there and right then.

The girl started screaming "I'M A VIRGIN! I'M A VIRGIN. I CAN'T BE PREGNANT!!".

My mother told her to cut the bullshit and called the girl's mother in. The girl's more was all OMG IS THAT WHY SHE WAS GETTING FAT? all fakely, then started yelling "WHO DID THIS TO YOU? WAS IT __________? ________________, ___________ OR __________?" Staghfurallah a million times over.

They then made some stupid story about the girl being engaged and the fiancee running off to some other country. Oh wait, it gets worse. The girl then said "Maybe my brother raped me".

This last thing made my stomach turn and my blood boil. I couldn't comprehend someone saying that.

Few days later family and friends were visiting bla bla, along with the brother.

Ugh. This stupid story made me sick but I just wanted you all to know that when you all have kids of your own, KEEP YOUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS ON A TIGHT LEASH. And educate them, for heaven's sake, educate them. A smart, overachieving girl with hobbies and interests and a mind of her own is less likely to give it all away for some jerkoff. Please, brothers and sisters, be strict on your sons and EDUCATE your daughters.

I know a girl who put on a hijab because her father shaved her head bald after catching her with her boyfriend. Her wild ways didn't stop and she still dated and was, well, a slut even though she was now representing the 150,000ish muslim girls and women living in Australia. After her hair grew back, she took it off. She then started dating a guy who told her that if she ever wanted him to marry her, she'd have to put it back on.

Hypocritical, assinine and retarded. This girl gets bad grades. She's not into sport or religion or into anything, really. It's girls like these that make guys their #1 in their lives. And I can bet you any money this hypocritical asshole is NEVER going to marry her. He doesn't even respect her unless she has a hijab on her head.

If there are any parents of young men, baby boys, young women or infant girls out there reading me, please hear my plea. Please teach your sons respect, please watch their every move, not just your daughters'. You could save the life of an unborn child if, Allah forbid, your son goes out and gets some silly girl pregnant.

Salam to all.

EEEEEEE I invented a new styleee :D

Okay. Not totally. I created a hybrid. something like this;

But I used a yeshmagh and a narrow black shayla. Chest coverage, check. Neck coverage, check. Kicking style, check check check. I'm going to start putting how-to's on youtube (as soon as I find out how to be hijabed-up while making them without looking ridiculous because I have an al-amira wrecking all the hard work).

I hate al-amiras. They suck. Totally. And I'm totally bitter because they don't suit me at all and they're so dang effortless for some women.

Back to the topic..

I shall post pictures when I try out my new style on Monday to a school field trip. I'm already getting known as "that girl that wears her hijab weirdly" as opposed to "that chick with weird clothes and weird hair and weird make up and weird music tastes". Who cares. I'm tired of seeing everyone wear their hijab the same way.

Such a waste.

I'm currently a senior in high school and there's a guy that's in most of my classes. His parents are "muslim" but he doesn't pray, fast.. I'm not sure he believes in Allah at all. (A few weeks ago he said "I only believe in what I see" amidst a religious discussion.. I'm not sure if it was to cause problems or if he was telling the truth).

Anyway, a long time ago he and I had a conversation about children, parenting etc. He said that when he grew up, he wanted to be religious.

I was angry (at the time, I wasn't religious at all and I was also kind of hurt and offended). It was so hypocritical. This was a guy who swore incessantly, was very rude to his mother. He had a tattoo and planned to get more. He's known in our grade as a scumbag, daredevil, pornography junkie, "aggro".. His list of vices goes on and on.

A little older and a lot wiser now,

I care for this person as a fellow Muslim, or atleast, a fellow human being.

His father is a great man whom I have heard nothing but good about. His mother is a hijabi, he comes from a pretty strict family altogether. So now, when I'm trying desperately hard not to swear and I have my gaze lowered constantly, I cringe when I can hear him in drama class..

"I'm in love with a stripperrrrrrrrrr..."

I feel so many things when I hear that. Insulted? Disgusted? Angry? Sad? Regretful?

And then, this sentence resounds in my head.

What. A. Waste.

What a waste of the Islamic teachings of our prophet. What a waste of his family name, what a waste of his father's efforts to raise a good son. What a waste of his very Muslim first name.

What a waste of our efforts to teach the West that our brothers aren't perverts, child rapists, sexual deviants or users.

What. A. Waste.

Yeeeeeey new blog :]]

So here's the lowdown.

I'm an Arab-Muslim bad-girl-gone-good. Reformed, saved. Call it whatever you want. Two months ago I was a truanting, dating, immodestly dressed wild child. I did a lot of stuff that I don't need to speak of and no one really needs nor should want to hear.

So I started wearing hijab. It was hard and at first I copied a family friend of mine (who is probably not the best influence) and chose to reveal my neck and my ears. I got sick of doing things half-assed and now I show neither of them and I'm happy. I'm proud to say that although I'm still getting used to hijab, I don't wear tight clothing anymore. I've been living in a gypsy/maxi skirt for about 2 months now ._. which reminds me, I really need new clothes.

And this post is becoming ridiculously long and so I shall stop here.
